Reddit Funny Japanese Monster Hunter World Characters Pigtails
The Monster Hunter fandom is up in a frenzy due to the release of Monster Hunter Rise. Each time a new entry arrives in the series, the hype surrounding the game leads to fans being very vocal about their response. Since most of these are positive, things can take a humorous turn.Monster Hunter Rise has seen its fair share of memes, with a majority of them focusing on how happy the fanbase is to finally be able to get their hands on it. Some other funny pictures have to do with the similarities of this game with others from the same genre. Updated on November 16, 2021 by Mark Sammut: Memes are a great metric to determine something's public presence. Are there hundreds of memes surrounding the game, movie, anime, or celebrity? Or is it a struggle to find a single photo gag starring the topic? Going by the amount of Monster Hunter memes on the internet, Capcom's series is evidently doing something right. The license's games have always been quality, but their limited distribution hampered the franchise's exposure outside of Japan. With the releases of Monster Hunter: World and Monster Hunter Rise, that is no longer the case. The future is bright for the iconic series, and that means a whole lot of Monster Hunter memes.
16 Where The Priorities Lie
People were engaging in PS vs. Xbox memes not too long ago but the interest in consoles has taken a backstep due to the release of this game. Despite the PS5 promising a showcase, many Monster Hunter fans only care about their preferred series.
As far as players of this franchise are concerned, the only thing that gets them interested is the prospect of more entries for them to indulge in. Considering how massive these games generally are, that's really saying something.
15 Close Enough?
Parents don't really care how many hidden locations there are in Monster Hunter Rise. For them, anything can be fun if it's close enough. Of course, there's not much that can be considered similar to Capcom's series in real life considering the genre it belongs to. It's also a reference to the Sword and Shield class in Monster Hunter Rise.
Still, this meme argues that substituting Monster Hunter Rise with animals that look like the creatures in the title is good enough. This can also be considered as a variation of the "4 pics 1 word" game since the four pictures do sum up Monster Hunter Rise.
14 That's About Right
Most consider the possibility of different types of Pokemon fighting the variety of monsters in the Monster Hunter series an exciting prospect. However, this meme considers the possibility that creatures that look alike may just call it a truce.
To go further, the assumption is that the two will end up taking a nap rather than engaging in any battles. In its own way, this is also a scenario that would be fun to check out if it were to be adopted by Capcom or Nintendo.
13 The Real Master
While the games have people in control of the creatures, this meme considers the possibility of the situation being reversed. It's also a way of acknowledging how Monster Hunter Rise's craze has taken over fans.
To this end, they're the ones being controlled by the game due to the addictive nature of it all. A final way to interpret this would be by considering the possibility that Ratatouille's Remy is attempting to make Alfredo Linguini purchase Monster Hunter Rise because no one can resist this game.
12 Pretty Much The Same
Repede from Tales of Vesperia could just be the twin of Palamute from Monster Hunter Rise. According to the creator of this meme, the two are one and the same. If any non-fan were to be given pictures of both, they wouldn't be able to make out the difference.
It's a good way of poking fun at others as there really is a very striking resemblance between the two. It's also a way of taking a shot at Monster Hunter Rise for sticking so close to a character that's already been established.
11 Blast From The Past
Meme uploaded by u/hyporex247.
The power of nostalgia is strong with this Monster Hunter meme. Capcom's franchise made its debut in 2004 with Monster Hunter, a game that only came out on the PS2 at the time. This introductory title was ultimately ported to the Wii as Monster Hunter G, sparking an era when the series would mostly be known for its Nintendo titles. In 2009, Monster Hunter Tri debuted on the Wii, while a very different version called Monster Hunter Portable 3rd came out on the PSP and PS3 in Japan.
In the west, non-Nintendo owners had to wait until 2018's Monster Hunter: World to get their hands on a new title, so the series certainly felt like a blast from the past. In turn, Switch players had to wait a while longer to get a new mainline entry, with Monster Hunter Rise coming out in 2021. Thankfully, the games always tend to be worth the wait.
10 Love Has Been Transferred
Capcom's series has been well-received overall, but fans don't often care for the titles that don't have the kind of value they're looking for. Due to this, Monster Hunter Stories 2 is getting no love in this meme as it is completely overshadowed by Monster Hunter Rise.
According to the meme, Monster Hunter Stories 2 is feeling left out since the hype surrounding the release of Monster Hunter Rise has seen the latter become the talk of the town. Still, the situation may get flipped as Monster Hunter Stories 2's release date etches closer.
9 Homer Understands
As with any main Monster Hunter title, Rise's gameplay loop revolves around hunting massive beasts, reaping the rewards, and repeating the process ad nauseam. Kamura Village serves as the game's central hub world, providing players with a reason to fight outside of just the thrill of the hunt. This village is peaceful and relaxing, the perfect location to complement Monster Hunter Rise's intense but cathartic combat missions.
In the village, hunters can find the Tea Shop that sells Bunny Dango sweets that bestow the chance to receive a boost during battles. As Homer Simpson clearly understands, delicious grub is worth protecting.
8 A Palamute Attacks
In Monster Hunter Rise, palamutes accompany hunters on their expeditions to take down towering beasts that can flatten people with their toes. Consequently, it doesn't seem that unreasonable for a palamute to be slightly on edge when around one of these monsters. They know that a single movement is enough to cause devastation, so why not strike as quickly as possible?
Now, admittedly, this go-getter attitude can backfire if the palamute targets a monster that the hunter has no intention of fighting. Still, it is difficult to remain angry at these adorable furry companions for too long.
7 Out With The Iceborne, In With The Rise
It is only natural that a new game in a series will overshadow its immediate predecessor, particularly if the sequel is just as well received. Monster Hunter World: Iceborne enjoyed a good year of success as the franchise's main attraction, which is pretty impressive for an expansion. However, everything eventually comes to an end, and Monster Hunter Rise is now the darling of the ball.
Now, to be fair, Iceborne and Rise are available on different systems, so it is not like the latter's existence makes the former obsolete. As Monster Hunter World is not on the Nintendo Switch, Rise is a brilliant substitute that makes great use of the console's strengths and limitations.
6 A Better Future (& Present)
Uploaded by Monster Hunter Problems.
Considering there was a time when Monster Hunter games were not even guaranteed to leave Japan, the sheer volume of recent releases is unprecedented and exciting. At the moment, it seems like there is always something concerning the franchise to look forward to.
As the hype circling Monster Hunter: World started to subside, Capcom announced the Iceborne DLC. Once that became old news, Monster Hunter Rise came out on the Nintendo Switch, shortly followed by Monster Hunter Stories 2. Even after all that, Monster Hunter will not be leaving the public eye quite yet, as Rise is scheduled to come out on January 12, 2022 on PC. The game's Sunbreak expansion is also planned for Summer 2022. This Monster Hunter meme is right – things can be better.
5 A Familiar Hunt
Rise has inspired a respectable amount of Monster Hunter memes, but it is no JoJo's Bizarre Adventure. For this gag, Dio lends his considerable (meme) drawing power to Capcom's series, and the villain gracefully lets Rajang deliver the punchline.
Monster Hunter Rise has its share of new beasts to hunt, including the Bird Wyvern Aknosom and the Fanged Beast Goss Harag, so it is not like returning players are just facing off against the same old creatures they've fighting for the last decade. That said, there are naturally quite a few returning faces, albeit Rise does tweak them a bit. Rajang is considerably easier in the Nintendo Switch game than most of his previous incarnations, although he is still a pretty fun boss. Dio is also no stranger to repeat appearances.
4 Sounds About Right
Khezu is one of the monsters to be found in the game and the person behind this comic meme thinks life for the creature isn't easy. That mainly has to do with the fact that Khezu doesn't have eyes, which makes daily life a real task.
If Khezu really can read, then it's rather insensitive that the poor guy didn't get a letter he can decipher. After all, Khezu does contribute to the game and should be treated with respect.
3 Take My Money!
There are a number of things you can get on the Nintendo eShop but, naturally, a game can't be played until it's time for its release. Still, more than several fans did attempt to get early access despite there being no way for them to do so.
In essence, they were just banging on the Nintendo eShop to open so they could throw their money at them to get Monster Hunter Rise. All things considered, the goal of receiving money from customers has already been achieved, so it kind of makes sense to hand the game out early.
2 New Is Better
It doesn't matter how many hours of fun a previous Monster Hunter game delivered, new is always better for most fans. The usual way things go is that the latest entry is played until another one arrives, at which point the older one becomes obsolete.
That's just how things go and Monster Hunter Rise is currently attracting major attention. As part of the natural cycle, once the next entry becomes a reality, Rise will join other neglected Monster Hunter titles in favor of the newest one.
1 The Same Story
If the lives of Monster Hunter fans are to be played back to them, most of it would comprise of their playthroughs of the series. More often than not, these players like to brag about how many hours they've dedicated to these titles.
The best way to rejuvenate a fan's interest is by handing them a new entry, which will give them a brand new kick to spend another several hundred hours on the game. It's even become a practice for players to compare how much time they've spent on the games with one another.
Monster Hunter Rise is available on Nintendo Switch and releases on January 12, 2022 on PC.
